Labrador Grooming in Lucknow

Labrador grooming is simple but regular: a good bath, a full blow dry, clipped nails, clean ears and plenty of brushing to keep shedding in check. Labs don’t need a haircut. The Pawpup Signature (Spa) covers everything a Lab needs in one visit, and an Express Bathing (Refresher) is handy between spa days.
Lab owners in Lucknow usually ask us one thing first: “how do I stop the hair?” Below we explain the coat, the routine that helps, and what it costs. To compare every package side by side, see our full list of grooming prices.
A short coat that sheds more than you’d expect
The Labrador coat looks low-maintenance, but it is a dense double coat. Underneath the short, slightly coarse outer hairs sits a thick undercoat that keeps a Lab warm and helps water run off. That undercoat sheds steadily all year and heavily when the seasons change.
Because the hairs are short and stiff, they weave into fabric and are hard to vacuum up. The outer coat is also naturally a little oily, which is part of its water resistance, but it means a Lab can start to smell “doggy” between baths.
Do Labradors need a haircut?
No. A Labrador haircut isn’t needed, and shaving the coat is generally not recommended, because it protects the skin from the sun and grows back unevenly. What a Lab does need is the loose undercoat brushed and washed out, a sanitary trim, and the paws kept clean. If you have a fluffier breed as well, our Golden Retriever grooming page covers how a longer, feathered coat differs.
Lucknow summers, monsoon mud and ticks
Labs are happy, outdoor dogs that rarely say no to a puddle. In the rains, the dense undercoat holds water for hours, and a coat that stays damp can lead to a musty smell and itchy patches. Drying right down to the skin after a bath or a muddy walk makes a real difference.
The monsoon is also tick season. A short coat makes ticks easier to spot, but they still hide inside the ears, between the toes, under the collar and around the tail. Our guide to tick and flea care in the monsoon shows you where to check. We also offer a Neem Bath (₹250) and a Medicated Bath (₹350); if you notice skin problems, check with your vet first.
Nails: the part Lab owners often forget
Labs are big, active dogs, but walking on smooth floors at home doesn’t wear their nails down. If you can hear clicking on the tiles, the nails are probably too long. Nail clipping is included in the Signature Spa, or you can book Nail Clipping on its own for ₹200. Our dog nail trimming guide explains how to check length at home.
How often to groom a Labrador
- Weekly brushing with a rubber brush or de-shedding tool, and every day during a heavy shed. Our de-shedding guide has a simple routine.
- A Signature Spa every four to six weeks for a full wash, conditioner, blow dry, nails, ears, sanitary trim and oral hygiene.
- Express Bathing (₹600 to ₹1,000) in between, after a swim or a muddy day, for a quick shampoo and blow dry.
- Shed Relief (₹400) added on during shedding season.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Labrador grooming price at PawPup Cafe?
The Pawpup Signature (Spa) we recommend for Labradors costs ₹700 to ₹1,600 depending on your dog's size, incl. taxes. A quick Express Bathing (Refresher) costs ₹600 to ₹1,000, and Shed Relief can be added for ₹400. We confirm the size, and so the final price, when you book.
How often should I bathe my Labrador?
For most Labs, a proper spa bath every four to six weeks is enough, with a quick refresher bath after a muddy walk or a swim. Bathing too often can dry out the skin, so brushing is the better everyday habit.
Will grooming stop my Labrador from shedding?
No grooming can stop shedding completely, because it's natural for a double-coated dog. A spa bath with Shed Relief and regular brushing at home clear out a lot of loose hair, so much less of it ends up on your sofa and clothes.
